Description
Tanzania - Peaberry
Bright, complex, and tea-like.
This is peaberry coffee from smallholder farms in Tanzania's Southern Highlands, Songwe Region. Grown at elevations between 1,500 and 1,900 meters in clay mineral soil, then fully washed and dried on raised beds.
A peaberry forms when only one seed develops inside the cherry instead of the usual two. It's a natural mutation that happens in only about 5 to 10 percent of the world's coffee. The result is a rounder bean with a distinct flavor profile that stands out from standard lots.
The coffee is processed at centralized mills run by Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, where cherry from small farms is carefully sorted, depulped, fermented, washed, and dried. This setup ensures consistency and quality, which means better prices for farmers and better coffee in the cup.
Origin: Southern Highlands, Songwe Region, Tanzania
Altitude: 1,500–1,900 MASL
Process: Fully washed, dried on raised beds
Varietal: Regional Bourbon cultivars
Grade: Peaberry
Harvest: June–August

Cardamom, brown sugar, tea-like, bright acidity, complex, medium body
Roast level:
●●●○○ Medium-Light Roast
What you'll taste is bright acidity up front with cardamom and brown sugar sweetness, layered with tea-like qualities that add complexity. The body is medium, the finish clean.
Pour-over or drip brings out the best in this coffee, but it works however you brew.
And like every bag we sell, $2 goes to supporting children who are still waiting.
Not just great coffee. Coffee that does something.
